Casual Friday – Susan Boyle

A hasty judgment is a first step to recantation. Publilius Syrus

Publilius Syrus was a Roman writer who lived from 85 BC to 43 BC. Why do you think we have yet to evolve beyond making hasty judgments about other people?

Enjoy the video. Every time I watch it I still get goose bumps. In a cynical world, there are still major surprises left to discover where you least expect to find them – in each other.

Debbie, thanks for reminding

Debbie, thanks for reminding me how absolutely amazing Susan Boyle is. I got teary-eyed listening to her this morning.

Life somethimes is filled with the unexpected, sometimes wonderful events. I had no idea how my life would change after cancer, but it has, and, in many ways,is much better- more joyful, more spiritual, than before. I have been meeting some wonderful women, you, Leslie, Michele, all cancer survivors, whom I admire and respect and who have inspired me to be grateful and to make the most of every day. Sometimes I even surprise myself when I perform some loving acts of kindness without thinking.

We’re All Amazing and Capable of Surprising Ourselves and Others

Barbara:

The wondrous thing about writing my Gifts and Losses List was the surprise of it. Before I actually sat down and wrote it, I never thought I could be grateful for anything that was connected to cancer. But the moment I started to write was much like the moment Susan Boyle opened her mouth to sing – my assumptions were blown away and I was shocked and astounded by a new reality.

You’ve definitely discovered many gifts too. I’m glad our friendship is one of them!

It’s People Like Barbara and You Who Inspire Me

Dear Bridget:

Thank you so much for your kind words. I really enjoyed meeting you too. Some survivors aren’t comfortable when I talk about the “gifts and losses of cancer,” but everyone agrees with me when I tell them about the gift of meeting so many wonderful people I never would have met but for cancer. I’m so happy to connect with you too and thank you for joining me here at WWGN.

Susan Boyle

It is an amazing video, and definitely proof that one can’t judge a book by its cover. A very triumphant moment.

Triumphant for Her, A Lesson for Us

Beth:

She really did fool everyone didn’t she? They never saw the real her coming. I love that moment when she opens her mouth and they all gasp and jump to their feet. Triumphant, indeed!!

Debbie
