Survivorship in Paradise – “The Descendants”

I’m so excited to join Luci Weston of Chick Flick Chat in a few hours to talk about “The Descendants.” This gorgeous film starring George Clooney and the State of Hawaii masterfully draws us into one family’s dance with tragedy, loss, and reconnection. As Luci’s guest co-host, I wanted to talk about this film because of the powerful survivorship themes it explores. George Clooney’s character, Matt King, is a hapless husband and father suddenly faced with his wife’s shocking accident and impending death. Exponentially complicating his shock is the discovery of her betrayal. Facing these issues is obviously painful, but we see his character grow personally and evolve into a better father. With loss, comes the unexpected gift of inspired survivorship.

Luci and I will be talking at 10:30 this morning (ET). If you can’t join us live on Chick Flick Chat, I’ll be letting you know soon how to download the recording. See you on Chick Flick Chat!

Beth:

I kept thinking how great it must have been to film in such a beautiful location. Next week, I’ll let you know how you can listen in and download my chat with Luci Weston about the movie. If you watch the movie, you’ll have to let me know what you think of it.
